Kenya
Now travelers can enjoy a safari adventure and experience ecotourism at Campi Ya Kanzi in Kenya. Luca and Antonella offer their guests a chance to reconnect with the wild, while providing insight into the unusual partnership they have forged with the local Maasai community. Ecotourism Kenya recently recognized Campi Ya Kanzi for its outstanding work in protecting the environment. For those who have never been to Africa, the idea of a safari conjures up images of adventure and breathtaking scenery. One imagines sepia-drenched plains filled with lions and giraffes and all sorts of other exciting animal wildlife. But today’s travelers are also looking to travel comfortably without leaving a large ecological footprint. It was with the romantic images in mind while growing up in a small Italian town that Luca Belpietro dreamed of one day living in Africa. And he made his dream come true. Today, Belpietro and his wife, Antonella Bonomi, and their two young children, operate their own safari camp deep in the rolling green hills of southern Kenya, where they delight in sharing this very wild and beautiful place. Campi Ya Kanzi (Kishswahili for “Camp of the Hidden Treasures”) is...
Doesn't anyone garden anymore? How about making and canning preserves?
When I was young my mother and most of the women in her age group gardened. Everyone's grandmother gardened and put up fruit in those old fashioed ball mason canning jars. Women used to put away cans of every conceivable fruit, jelly, vegetable, and puree for use during the winter months. I used to have a garden, and I used to can my own tomato sauce and tomato paste. I grew other things as well but in my household tomato sauce was in constant need for cooking. I grew 4 different varieties of tomatoes so I made some virgin jars (with only one kind of tomato) and some mixtures of 2 or all 4 varieties that I grew. There is something wonderful about canning your own fruits and vegetables and knowing precisely what is in a jar of tomato sauce or what is in the jelly your kids put on their sandwiches. When you make and can it yourself there are no preservatives other than salt and spices, there is no added sugar but that which sun and God put into the mix, there is no pesticides (if you do organic vegetable gardening), there are no colorants, fillers, or anything that you cannot pronounce. In fact there is nothing in there that you didn't put in it and see with your own eyes. That...
Do you ever dream to have your own farm or estate?
I am. I always wanted to live in a farm with a magnificent house. I love a country side life and wanted to raise horses, hogs, sheeps and livestocks, I want to have a fruit orchard and an Organic Vegetable farms. Life in a country side is always great compared in the city.there is no added sugar but that which sun and God put into the mix, there is no pesticides (if you do organic vegetable gardening), there are no colorants, fillers, or anything that you cannot pronounce. In fact there is nothing in there that you didn't put in it and see with your own eyes. That is a good feeling to coax wholesome nutritious foods from the soil and bring it into your home for yourself and your family to eat. It seems that gardening and preserving fruits and veggies, and knowing for certain what goes into what goes into you are a dying activity. Gardening is an art form, it is also something that your children and grandchildren will remember and associate with you all of their lives. Growing vegetables these days is fairly easy and I can tell you from experience that the mass produced flash frozen or canned veggies that you buy in the store taste nothing like...
Are you taking organic food? Will it help to our lives and health?
Now a days so many organic stuff in the supermarket or organic groceries, Before I just eat those normal stuff without thinking about chemical residue behind it. First, I thought that, as long people keep eating with balance diet, it does not matter with what you eat. But after recommendation from a friend, she asked me to try organic vegetable. I told her, the stuff is more expensive from the normal one. But for the sake of my body, I switch some of my menu to organic one. Since we live in the big city surround by chemical. I just wonder, is taking organic food will help our body to detox?
organic vegetables
is't true that organic vegetable are safer than those vegetables applied with fertilizer?
